Background
Richard’s exploration of composition started during his studies at Durham University where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Music, with special emphasis in composition. During his time studying, Richard had the opportunity to fine tune his understanding of contemporary music as well as electronic and world music, which now has a significant effect on his style and approach to writing.

In 2016 Richard decided to study composition further but this time within the realms of Film and TV. After a year of studying, he graduated with a distinction from the University of Bristol with a Masters degree in Composition for Film and TV. Here, he was able to expand on the rich musical foundation he had learned in Durham, often turning to ethnic instruments and electronics to complement his work. For his final projects, he was fortunate enough to score the BAFTA nominated film ‘A Lion’s Tale’ as well as work with nationally renowned ensembles such as the Bristol Ensemble. .
