Hans Hugo Harold Faltermeyer (born 5 October 1952) is a German musician, composer and record producer.

He is known for composing "Axel F," the instrumental theme for the 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop, which became a notable synthpop track during the 1980s. Faltermeyer also composed the "Top Gun Anthem" and contributed to the score for the 1986 film Top Gun. His work on these films earned him two Grammy Awards: in 1986 for Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special, as a co-writer of the "Beverly Hills Cop" soundtrack, and in 1987 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance, shared with guitarist Steve Stevens, for "Top Gun Anthem" from the "Top Gun" soundtrack. He also composed the music for the films Fletch and Fletch Lives.

In addition to his film work, Faltermeyer has contributed as a session musician, arranger and producer for a range of international artists, including Donna Summer, Amanda Lear, Patti LaBelle, Barbra Streisand, Glenn Frey, Blondie, Laura Branigan, La Toya Jackson, Billy Idol, Jennifer Rush, Bonnie Tyler and Pet Shop Boys. .
